Hi,

I used vxdg to remove a disk from a disk group using vxdg but failed, any advice is appreciated:

# vxdg -g lmsora-dg rmdisk lmsora-dg02a
VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-552 Disk lmsora-dg02a is used by one or more subdisks.
Use -k to remove device assignment.

Thanks in advance.

Disk lmsora-dg02a is used by one or more subdisks.

Please show us output of 'vxprint -g lmsora-dg -htr'

I managed to remove the disk by deport / import the disk group.

Thanks.

Hi

Two things to note:

1) The original error message was due to the disk (that you want to remove) having subdisks on it. This typically means that there is a volume with data on that disk. You will have to remove the subdisk for the command to proceed.

2) Deporting and importing a disk group will not remove a disk from a diskgroup. The diskgroup may still reference the disk.

hope this helps

cheers

tony
