Nope, I will not download infected files on my PC :-) What you need to do is to go to:
http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/submitsamples.jsp
and submit the file to Security Response :-)
Below are few different methods those you can use to submit the file to check for infection
Title: 'How to submit a file to the Security Response website' Web URL: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH134967&locale=en_US Title: 'How to submit files to the Threat Expert website.' Web URL: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH96745&locale=en_US Title: 'How to Use the Web Submission Process' Web URL: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102419&locale=en_US
Follow the process provided in the above links and while using Symantec(Not Threat Expert) web site for submission use the following link as the link in the articles may ask you some information that you will get once you contact support
Web URL: http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/submitsamples.jsp
Please do not attach infected files to the forum. The will not be examined by Symantec Security Response. Only files submitted via the approved method will be processed.
Thanks and best regards,
Mick
Mudit is right to recommend threatexpert.com: that site will allow suspicious files to be uploaded for an automated analysis. That can be very useful while Symantec Security Response is examining and preparing a detailed study of threats submitted via Symantec's approved channels.
Also in the meantime: the 5 steps that should be taken during an outbreak can be found in Security Best Practices for Protecting a Business Environment from Common Threats (http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH105236)
Please keep the forum up to date with your progress!
With thanks and best regards,
I deleted the file. In the future please do not put suspected files in the forums.
Thanks,
Thomas
