    Hi People,

Based on this thread: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/restore-all-files-enterprise-vault-fsa I'd like to know how can SEP client be configured so that when th file is scanned, the file is recalled back to the file server.

    THanks

But in this case I want to make all files with the palce holder only gets touched and then recalled from EV FSA.

Is that possible with SEP client 12.1.2 ?

It sounds to me like you want SEP to demigrate the files and restore them to their roginal locations, is that correct?

If so, then the "Scan all files, forcing demigration (fills drive)" sounds like your ticket.  Just make sure you do proper planning and ensure that (a) this is definitely what you want to do, and (b) you have enough free disk space available.

    Hi SMLatCST,

Yes I'd like to perform the EV FSA mass recall using the easiest way possible to do it.

Capacity wise yes I do have enough disk space.

In that case the option I mentioned should do the trick.  Otherwise, EV-FSA has its own tool for this:

Definitely don't use SEP for this ... Use FSAUTILITY.  That's what it is built for.

Ah Ok, so in this case, does the FSA utility can do it faster than SEP client scanning ?

I wouldn't imagine that anyone has done any speed comparisons.

It's more of a case of the right tool for the job.

I guess that's the only way to do it then.

So where is the best place to execute the FSAUtility from ?

The EV server itself or the File Server where the FSA agent is installed.

Don't know if you get the FSAUTILITY on a server with just the placeholder service?

I would run it from the EV server though.

It shouldn't really matter where you run the util from, though I'd be more inclined to do so from the file server itself, as it then wouldn't have to make a million and one calls from EV to File Server and back again.

This assumes that this is a Windows file server of course, and not some NAS device or something.

Have you had a read through teh article I linked before?

    SMLatCST,

yes it is Windows Server 2008 file server. The article that you sent: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO97254 I've read it.

So in this case there is no other way to extract / pull that is recommended for approximately 4.7 TB of archived files into the file server ?
