  • 1.  How to stop scanning of outgoing Pop3 email

    Posted Apr 01, 2011 02:36 PM

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is scanning my outgoing mail, using Pop3 Eudora, and reporting an email as rejected by the outgoing server **while Eudora shows the message as sent **. The SEP message does not identify which email failed.

Thus, a process that used to work perfectly -- the failed message showed as not sent in Eudora, so I knew to resend it -- is now disrupted by SEP.

I'm hoping that if I turn off the SEP outgoing scanning, this probelm will disappear.

However, my various efforts to figure out how to do that have failed, including the link provided in the original message and "help and support" from within SEP. There seems to be a way to shut off all email scanning, but not specifically outgoing.

    Advice?

    Thanks

Can you provide a screenshot of the message of when the email gets blocked? What version of SEP are you running?

Thanks. I don't have a screen shot right now ... says Server rejected the email message

    Version -- SEP 11.0.6005.562

Seems like it's all or nothing -- I can turn off email scanning incoming and outgoing, or have both on, but not a mix -- in on / out off ...
