  • 1.  How to sysprep and clone Win7 PC's using GSS 2.5

I currently use sysprep and Ghost v7.5 to clone our XP images. Currently I build and configure my target PC, copy the desired profile to the default profile, remove it from the domain, clear the event log entries, and then run sysprep with the shutdown option. I then boot from my Ghost boot disk and take the image.  I basically need to do this same process but for a Windows 7 OS (both 32 and 64 bit eventually).

So far I've found that in Windows 7 you can't copy a profile to the default user's profile (without 3rd party tools) so having not made it past that point I don't even know what I'll run into with Ghost v7.5.  I also don't understand what the modern day equivalent is to Ghost 7.5 as I really don't need all the bells and whistles of the full Ghost Solution Suite. We bring PC's offline to our data center to image on a seprate network, and then delivery them back to the user's workspace so all I really need is multicasting. Please advise.

Ghost v7.5 is very old version. Though sysprep and clone with configuration using GSS 2.5.1 is really straight forward. GSS 2.5.1 is Win7 supported.

    Please see

How to perform sysprep and configuration tasks using GSS 2.5.1 is mentioned in additional features.

    Hello,

I see that the referenced documentation is over a year old. Is there any current documenation speceifc for sysprep and clone with GSS 2.5 and windows 7?

    Hi,

Though this is old version of documentation it is applicable with respect to Windows 7. GSS 2.5.1 build 2266 added the support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server R2 operating systems. When you create sysprep configuration, you can see Windows 7 Sysprep versions (supported versions) now available under Configuration resources--> sysprep configurations (see sysprep.jpg attached).
