There are SQL Script to backup and restore DLP's database, located on the folder: SymantecDLP\Protect\tools\backup

And, also, you can refer to the admin guide.

    Hi Mohan,

You can take 2 types of back up and restore accordingly

    1)HOT Backup

    2)COLD Backup

It makes you to take back up manually the database by stopping the vontu services and copy database files from protec DB location to secure location.

also you can schedule  automated backup for you needs using DBA assistence. This will schedule periodic basis and provide you some reports for status.

    Hi Mohan,

for above you must be take regular back up eithere Hot backup/ cold back up.You can automate backup activity amd alert of the same.

    Please refer below importants

Listed below is a summary of what needs backed up for Vontu.  It is recommended that you reference the System Maintenance Guide for the version of DLP you are using.

The following directories should be backed up on the Vontu Enforce and Detection Servers where applicable:

    Logs:                           \Vontu\Protect\logs directory
    Keystore:                     \Vontu\Protect\tomcat\conf\
    Plugins:                         \Vontu\Protect\plugins
    Server configuration:      \Vontu\Protect\config
    Incremental scan index:  \Vontu\Protect\scan\incremental_index

DLP support does not provide instructions or support for a Hot backup of the Oracle Database files.

    Hi Mohan,

for above you must be take regular back up eithere

    Backup Scenarios:

Hot Backup: To maintain your Oracle within a 24x7 environment with continual access through the UI, you must have the Oracle hot backup enabled. This must be setup and maintained by your DBA in order to comply with your company archival policies. Hot backups allow you to maintain 24x7 real-time alerts and notifications.  Symantec DLP Support will not be able to assist with the setup of a Hot Backup solution.

Cold Backup: Cold Backups allow you to perform scheduled backups without having a DBA involved. During the backup, you will not get real time notification and alerts and you will not be able to log into the UI. Note that incidents will be collected continuously, even during the backup window, and there will be no loss of incidents! Detailed steps to perform cold backups can be outlined by Symantec DLP support.

DLP support does not provide instructions or support for a Hot backup of the Oracle Database files.

For detailes steps refere Symantec DLP maintance Guide. Still find some basic steps

    1) stop the vontu services as mention in guide by there serials

2)Take imporatnt backup from Enforce and Oracle DB

    3)Start the vontu services

Please refer below most importants Backups
