  • 1.  How to target an ActiveDirectory group in "Applied To" within Altiris?

Hi guys, This should be real easy, but I do not see how to do it. How can I apply Altiris 7.1 policies against groups in Active Directory? I have 3 options of how to target stuff in altiris(computer list, filter, and group). Computer list only seems like a good option for single objects(or have several of them for 10 objects), Groups only shows OUs in Active Directory, so I am guessing it would be filters. Does anyone know how to create a filter against a security group?

    Thanks,

    Dan

You need to go to AD Import and import the security groups specfically by name you want. Then, when the AD import runs it will create a filter for each AD Security group imported.

It's a good way of letting the helpdesk target software deliveries without having to train them in Altiris.

Thanks for your response.  I am doing this now and it sounds like it will be a solution.

I am sure this works, but cannot figure it out. I completed an AD import of the Role and Account with the group name that I care about. I tried selecting it directly, no luck. I then tried creating a filter based on that group, and also does not work. What is sad is that if I cannot get this to work today, I have to manually type in over 500 computers

I changed it from Role and Account to Computer and checked the box to create filter and I am reimporting
