Hi Florence, For SMS Domino

Hi Florence,

For SMS Domino 8.x in Windows 2008 in a 64 bit server environment, the documentation can be found here: www.symantec.com/docs/TECH122403

For SMS DOM on a Windows 2003 32-bit systems the default path for the licenses is “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses”. The steps are the same as in the linked document.

License files get installed

License files get installed to the same folder most of the time. If a license is applied for one product and it includes a license (quite common for most customers) for a second product the second product will typically see/use it when it sees it in the licensing folder.

If you are wanting to unlicenses a specific product on a single machine it may be best to just uninstall it. However the products are typically licensed by user seat count not server installs so often there is no need to remove or un-license a product.

Same for SMSMSE

Just a quick note for forum visitors: though the instructions in the KN above specify SMSDOM, the same steps apply for SMSMSE.

Also note that it is not necessary to uninstall old / expired licenses- a new, valid one can be added through the SMSMSE GUI and will be successfully applied.

Thanks and best regards,

Mick
