  • 1.  How to uninstall SEPM remotely?

    Posted Feb 05, 2014 03:13 AM

    Hello,

I do want to test in my lab.

Will it be possible to uninstall SEPM remotely like SEP clients?

We have around 20 SEPM's on client network and now we are replacing them with GUP.

    Looking easiest way if possible.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

I believe it's not possible to uninstall SEPM remotely.

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) uninstall

The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager uninstall is fairly straightforward and should be done on a per-manager basis. The following table lists topics that are related to this process.

Backing up the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager You should back up the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using disaster recovery procedures. If you need to uninstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, making these preparations in advance makes it easier to reconnect with existing clients and use previously configured policies when you reinstall. For information on preparing for disaster recovery, please see Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1: Best Practices for Disaster Recovery with the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager
Removing the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager The recommended method is to use the standard Windows uninstall method. For more information, see "Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" (Enterprise) and "Uninstalling Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager" (Small Business Edition).
Connecting existing clients to a new or reinstalled Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager If it becomes necessary to uninstall and reinstall the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager without preparing in advance for disaster recovery, it is possible to reconnect existing Symantec Endpoint Protection clients to a new manager installation. Please see the following document for more information: How to point Symantec Endpoint Protection clients to a new Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager after you have uninstalled or are going to decommission or replace the existing primary Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

We do not have any tools as such to uninstall SEPM. However you can use psexec to remove SEPM /SEP remotely . All you need to do is to find the uninstall key and run this cmd

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstal

This is in the "add/remove" programs. Simply check the keys for SEPM, and locate the uninstall string key which will be on the right hand side.Mine was something like this

    MsiExec.exe /i {C1B0BDC8-0624-4036-90D1-F7DF0EE8C96D}

    or

    MsiExec.exe /norestart /q/x{C1B0BDC8-0624-4036-90D1-F7DF0ErE8C96D} REMOVE=ALL,

You dont need /norestart as SEPM will not require reboot anyways its good to have..

    You can use psexec @sepmlist.txt

    which would do the job
