Hi, When you export the

Hi,

When you export the client install package from SEPM in RU5 version, it will have the latest definitions as well.

Aniket, DO NOT MISGUIDE

Aniket,

DO NOT MISGUIDE THE CUSTOMERS !!!!!!

An exported client install package does not contain the latest definition files. It has the september 19th(approx) definition file.

In single .exe setup file u cant have latest definition .

Uncheck the single exe & export the client install package & replace the virus def folder with the latest definition file
which can be found in sepm with the name as full.zip check the link

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007110513361348

After repacing the virus def folder with latest def folder use winrar to create a single exe.

Hi

You cannot have a single exe file with latest defs
as you wont be able to edit exe files as simple as that :)
however if you uncheck create single exe file while exporting the package, you wil get an msi file
alll you have to do is to replace the virusdef.zip file with your latest defs .

Here is the discussion link for that.

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/creating-client-packages-latest-definitions
the reason why SEPM installs with old defs is for this reason
when you install SEPM it uses packates folder on CD1 of SEPM folder
if you open the packages folder you will find two dat files for SAV32 and 64 bits
if you rename these dat files to .zip you will find a default package of SEP 32 bit
you will find a virudef.zip file
once the sepm is installed and when packages are created it would actually use this default onces to create packages thats the reason why it does not have latest defs
creating package with latest defs is not a real time process, however its using the defs at the time of SEPM install

so please follow the above discussion to have clints with latest defs while installng them.

I'm managing around 20000 + servers and use this method to install with latest defs
so that they dont take updates frm manager and choke the bandwith

Are you bothered about the "Virus Defintions out of date" message after installing the clients using single exe file? Then try this
