Hi, I am having window 7 in my laptop which is ready for updation to window 10. But whenever i tried to update it, it stopped and asking for removal of symantec endpoint protection. But the problem is that i am symantec endpoint corporate client protection which is password protected and I do not have password to remove this. please help me in either removing it from my laptop or updation of window 10 without removing it.

I have seen so many post here which provide solution for removal of symantec endpoint protection which are not workable as i am having corporate client.

Hi, you need to have SEP version at least 12.1.6 MP1 installed on your machine to be able to upgrade to Win 10.

Any way you can remove SEP client using CleanWipe utility even if it is password protected. Only challenge might be getting the utility if you do not have access to FileConnect.

If you have a password on it, have you checked with your administrator for these details?

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Symantec community.

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) adds support for Windows 10 with 12.1.6 MP1 (12.1.6306.6100). For Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1, a maintenance patch has been released on July 29, 2015.

Either upgrade the SEP client or uninstall existing version using latest Cleanwipe tool. Latest Cleanwipe tool can remove SEP thought it's password protected. If you do not have an accesss to download tool from fileconnect get in touch with your company admin.

or last resort to perform manual removal steps outlined here:http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH96924 .

    Hi,

The recommended methods (short of cleanwipe or manual uninstall - haven't tried those yet) don't seem to work for me when upgrading Windows 7 Pro machines to Windows 10.  We've been through several SEP version updates on those machines and currently run 12.1.7004.6500.

Is there a posibility that the SEP upgrades didn't clean up the older version(s) completely?

Download the cleanwipe and uninstall symantec completely.

Then try upgrading to windows 10. I did the same and it worked.

    Hi Gary,

Do you get any error message when when upgrading Windows 7 Pro machines to Windows 10?

    Hi All,

I tried Sadhan's suggestion - no go.  Still can't upgrade.  I should mention this is first 32-bit install of Windows 7 I've tried.  I've had no problems with equivalent 64-bit Windows 7 upgrades.

There aren't any messages other than the "Incompatible app" showing Symantec Endpoint Protection - even after a "cleanwipe".

I'm trying an ISO I created from the Microsoft MediaCreationTool on the troublesome 32-bit Windows 7 machine.  Probably a better way to do this anyway - no need to download the ~3G to each machine.  Seems to be working.
