How to upgrade Netbackup from 6.0MP3 to 6.5.2 without a CD?

HI Everyone,

 

Since i am a newbie in Netbackup Administration , i 've got some problem on Netbackup upgarde.

 

 My System : Solaris 9 

 

1) How to upgrade Netbackup from 6.0MP3 to 6.5.2 without a CD? (The Upgarde guide was only show the upgrade procedures with a CD) :manmad:

 

2) Which File i can download to perform a upgrade ? (from symantec dwonload page)

If you do not have the 6.5 CDs, then you will have to down load the software from the Licensing Portal.  Here is some info from previous posts:

 

IMHO, Licensing for upgrading is the hardest part of the 6.5 process.  I'm attaching some instructions as well.  There were written by a SYMC engineer to try and help with all things licensing.  Also below is the number for customer care, if you get stuck on the portal:

THIS WORKS FOR ALL LICENSES AND UPGRADING

 

Please visit https://licensing.symantec.com/acctmgmt/index.jsp    This is the License Portal, formally vLicense.

 

1)  Log in

2)  Select "Manage Licenses" tab on 1st tier of navigation.

3)  Select "License Catalog" tab on 2nd tier of navigation.

4)  Click "Advanced Search" (in orange coloring) this will take you to a better page for searching your license catalog.  Pease always use this method of searching.

5)   In the "search by license details" box - in the "customer number" field, use drop down to filter a certain customer number or leave at "all numbers” - click "search"   Please note the other searchable fields that may be useful in the future.

6)  All licenses registered and owned by you should appear - click "view details" on the license you want to update. You should check all licenses in your catalog.

7)  IF the license is not at the version you want, then in the "license key options", click on the "upgrade this license" to take it to the next version. File Connect is also here and will filter the correct media for the license.  If the upgrade button is not there, you have to process the Upgrade Notifications in "Version Upgrades" section or renew support on it. You have to upgrade all licenses to same version before going to next version and you can not skip a version.

8)  TO GET THE KEY for the license -- under "License key details", the key is under the heading "Licenses".  There is the key.

Licensing portal/fileconnect is the place from where you can download but for that you have to have valid contract etc. Best and simplest way to get the install files, contact your Symantec sales rep or your Symantec SE.
