Hello;

We are planning to upgrade the SEPM servers to 12.x version. please check the below current scenario & advice for the best practice ideas etc

-- 3 SEPM Manager running with approximate 50,000 clients ( including NAC)

-- 2 SQL server cluster for SEPM.

-- All client are getting Updates via GUP.

-- SEPM's version is  11.0.6300.803.

-- all clients ruuning on 11 version.

Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2 (RU2)

Go directly for the upgrade to the newest 12.1 RU2 as per artciels above. Both direct upgrades for clients as well for SEPM from 11 RU6 mp3 are supported.

Thank you so much for above information, i need to go through all links which will take time to finalize the planning.  if any one completed in real world the upgrade for kind of above scenario please share your experience. also i have few Questions which i missed in earlier post.

-- After upgrade will Existing SEP 11 client communicate with 12.1. we have 500 of remote sites & will not upgrade SEP11 client for a period of time.

-- If we install the new SEP 12.1 version,  Will the new SEP 12.1 will communicate & gets updates, policies from SEPM 11.x old version.

A: All SEP 11.x client can be managed from 12.1 SEPM - so this configuration is fine.

A: This configuration would be not recommended. Connecting 12.1 clients to the older 11.x SEPM can cause only issue. Please keep the SEPM on the same version or higher as SEP client connecting to it.

Ans =  Yes SEPM 12.1 will communicate with older version of sep11.
