  • 1.  How to use a custom sysprep file with Create Disk Image task

I see reference to people using custom sysprep answer files with GSS 3.x, but how is this accomplished? I don't see anything on this topic in the guides. I tried to just check the 'Prepare using Sysprep' option, but the default options it sets aren't appropriate. Is it possible to import a custom sysprep answer file and process it using the 'Prepare using Sysprep' option? Also, any documentation on what settings are in the default answer file?

GSS 3 is based on Deployment Solution 6.9 so this KB article may help:

"Enable build-in Administrator account in Windows 7 after sysprep in Deployment Solution 6.9"

"You can modify a sample copy [of unattend.xml] which is located under \Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\Sysprep\standardwes7.xml...

To use a custom unattend.xml, in the Distribute Disk Image task, under [Prepared using Sysprep], there is a [advanced settings], select [use the following answer file]."

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH195105

I can't recall ever needing to use a custom sysprep file to take an image, I just use one to create it in the first place using a scripted install then to deploy it once created where you can use the Deploy Image > Selected Image was prepared using sysprep > Sysprep settings > use the following answer file option.

If you needed to use a custom answer file to take the image you'd have to copy down your unattend.xml and run the sysprep /generalize command manually, invoking your answer file.
