  • 1.  How to verify that email is sent through the Web gateway appliance ?

    People,

I'm having a strange problem where I cannot send email to this one specific email domain. not just me but everyone within the company.

So how can I make sure to check that Symantec Web Gateway does not calssify this email domain as spam ?

I need to convince my manager that thi is not our email infrastructure issue, because all email flow to the rest of external email domain is sent through by our Exchange Server with no issue.

You would need to review the Message Audit logs to find the emails you're looking for.

When you log in to the Messaging Gateway, Message Audit Logs is on the left sidebar above Message Queues.

ok, so is there any way to see the complete email trail or flow until it is successfully sent out from the Web gateway ?

I need to show it as a proof that Symantec is not blocking it.

It should be as simple as:

    1. Log into SMG
    2. Click on SMTP -> Message Audit Logs (found on the left of the Status page)
    3. Add the mandatory filter (recipient email address is the default) and adjust Time Range
    4. Hit "Display Filtered" button and review

The Verdict and Action(s) columns will tell you how the SMG dealt with the email at a high level.  Click on the email result itself (one of the columns will be a link) and you can see the detailed information for the email, including what the next-hop SMTP server is.

BTW, all this is assuming we're talking about the SMG here, and not the Web Gateway you keep mentioning ;)
