Greetings,

Within the Ghost console by default I can perform user migrations but not Backup's or Images from the Console for HP DC7900's with Intel 82567lm-3 network cards.

We have 5000 of these machines and I'm sure other users on this forum do as well as it's HP's enterprise and business class model.

First:
Is this supported, which it should be, and if so please publish a update to "Live Update" asap so this can get corrected without the series of steps I've seen which are required.

Second:
Please provide clear A-Z steps to include the download link for the drivers etc.

I.E.
1) Go "here" and download X
2) Extract files and place at X location
etc

Best Regards,

Marshall, Yes, this machine

Marshall,

Yes, this machine type is supported. As is the norm, everything comes down to the available drivers for the hardware. Here are the instructions:

1. Download this driver from Intel for the network card and save it on your desktop:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/T8Clearance.aspx?sType=&agr=Y&ProductID=&DwnldID=12197&url=/12197/a08/PROVISTA32.exe&PrdMap=&strOSs=&OSFullName=&lang=eng

2. Open WinZip, 7-zip or WinRAR, then click File > Open Archive. Change the "Files of type" drop-down to "All files", then browse to the provista32.exe file on your desktop and extract it to a new folder on your desktop called NIC driver.

3. Go to the following page and download both *.zip files:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/sata-drivers-intel-ich9-and-ich10

4. Extract these each to different folders on your desktop; call them Intel ICH9 and Intel ICH10.

5. Open the Ghost Boot Wizard. Click Windows PE, then click Edit.

6. Choose the one called WinPE, then click Edit.

7. On the Network Drivers tab, click "Add new driver". Browse to the NIC driver folder on your desktop and browse through the subfolders: Pro 1000 > Win32 > NDIS61. Click OK. Then give it the friendly name Intel 82567. Check Vista as the applicable OS (Windows PE uses Vista drivers). Locate Intel 82567 on the checklist and check it.

8. Click on the Storage Drivers tab. Click "Add new driver". Browse to the Intel ICH9 folder on your desktop and browse through the subfolders: WinAll > Driver. Click OK. Then give it the friendly name Intel 82567. Check Vista as the applicable OS. Locate Intel ICH9 on the checklist and check it.

9. Repeat #8 for the Intel ICH10.

10. Click OK. It will take about 4-6 minutes to compile.

11. Make your boot disk and capture your image:

That's it! Good luck!

Thank you,

Randy

Did it work?

Marshall,

Have you had the opportunity to try this?

Randall, I see under step 11

Randall,
I see under step 11 you say create a boot disk.
I'm doing this from the console with the ghost client installed on the machines, performing tasks remotely.
With this in mind would all the steps still apply.

Best Regards,
Marshall

Console

Absolutely. All you need to do is right-click the client in the console, go to Properties and make sure that on the Client tab that the PreOS selected is the build of WinPE that you edited.

Randall, This worked. Also,

Randall,
This worked.
Also, ICH9 & 10 are applicable with drive mode is under AHCI.
For other readers, when using SATA/IDE mode don't installed these storage drivers.

Thanks again for the assistance.

Best Regards,
Marshall
