HP Ethernet 10 Gb 530FLR-SFP+ against Cisco Catalyst 6509
Created: 08 Jan 2013 | 3 comments
Hello
We have gotten some new HP Proliant media servers with HP Ethernet 10
Gb 530FLR-SFP+ which is connect to our Cisco Catalyst 6509 switch
We are seeing some recieve errors which correlates to no buffers in
advanced statistics, have tried to raise the number of receive buffers
and latest installing the HP Service Pack for Proliant
Wondered if somebody have a similar setup and can gives pointers on
how to setup the Netcard and Switch ports
Regards
Michael

Hi Michael.
You may have better luck asking such a qustion to a HP Proliant/Cisco discussion forum rather than a Symantec Netbackup forum.
Personally I had a lot of drivers issues with Netxgen/Qlogic (HP OEM) cards but with the lates HP Service pakc you shoud have that covered.
10G SPF are very sensitive to dust - cleaning the optics with apprved tools before connecting is mandatory.

Can you clarify the "recieve errors which correlates to no buffers in advanced statistics".
Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

We have created a case at HP
Attached a picture of where I have seen the "No Buffers"
We have until now found that flow control is needed on the switch port and
On the Netcard "TCP Connection Offload" should be unchecked and
"Recieve Buffers increased to 3000"
