  • 1.  HP Pavilion boot screen appears before Boot Guard screen

I am using PGP WDE for Windows 10.2.1 MP3 on an HP Pavilion desktop computer. I just encrypted my boot (C:) drive. Now, when I boot the computer, two screens appear BEFORE the PGP Boot Guard screen. I don't know if this is normal, or a problem. First, a black screen appears which IDs my NVIDIA video card. Second, and more worrisome, the standard blue-colored HP boot screen appears. This is the usual screen with pre-boot options such as "System Settings", and "System Recovery", "Boot Options", and so on. If I select nothing, the system moves to the PGP Boot Guard screen. From there, everything works fine. I know the drive contains the standard small 100MB SYSTEM partition, located before the C: drive. I assume this is where this HP pre-boot screen is located, but I have no way to access / encrypt it. Did I do something wrong, or is this pre-boot system page appearing BEFORE Boot Guard normal? ( I can't imagine it is ) Thanks, JOHN

This is perfectly normal.  Those 2 screens will be BIOS and POST screens, which are hard-coded into the chips themselves, and cannot be obfuscated by PGP.  You can go into the individual settings of the BIOS screens to displaying something else, or nothing.  But this depends entirely on the type of BIOS on that machine in particular.
