Hello All!,
I have recently installed SEP on of the machines connected to an HP network printer\scanner. After installing the HP Scanning utility hangs indefinitely.something to do with the firewall?
what shall I do?
I'll trying adding a rule to permit the communication between the printer and the machine
Hello,
What version of SEP have you installed?
Is that version SEP 11.0.5002, 11.0.6200 OR 11.0.6300?
Are you receiving Denial of Service messages?
I am not receiving any messages. I have downloaded the latest Symantec Endpoint Small business suite. I assume it is version 12.0.
On another machine (windows xp sp2), After installing the endpoint client, the cpu utilization hiked up to more than 90 % all the time. It turned up that the HP Network Devices Support service (HPSLPSVC) is taking over the cpu, making the computer unresponsive. again it's HP related problem.
Did you check this article?
HPSLPSVC service causing high CPU usage

Think this post is relevent to this problem, Once I apply the solution I'll let you posted
Thanks
Any idea about the scanning problem?
what is the error/issue with scanning?
does it not complete?
It seems to be related.
I have a HP Printer as well as Scanner and it does not Freeze.
Application freeze probably because certain processes may be using high CPU, which is in your case.
Again, check if the File and Printer sharing is ON!!!!
once you click the scan option the hp scanning flash screen shows up and just hangs there
Maybe, but once the scanning program freezes, the computer won't show any cpu usage hikes
I followed the link you posted in your previous post (http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1177917)
to find a second link (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/I-have-the-Officejet-L7780/m-p/127119) which leads to yet another third link : (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-65961-4&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=2512010) that points to an update which I applied to the first computer which is having the scanner problem and worked fine after that ( before applying the udpate I removed the client and reinstalled it after applying the udpate)
I will apply the same update to the second computer with the CPU Usage hike, and I let you know the results
