HTML email spam getting through
Created: 24 Feb 2010 | Updated: 26 Aug 2010 | 1 comment
My users are getting HTML spam messages (no text in email just HTML images and embedded links). Syamntec Mail Security/Spam Filter is not catching any of them. The From: Address changes in each email (so I cannot blcok by domain) and so does the subject (so I cannot block by subject but there is no text in the email, just HTML images and embedded links. Is there any way to just block all emails containing HTML in the body?
We are running the latest of of Mail Security for MS Exchange and Anti-Spam add-on as of last week (just upgraded)..

Pretty much any email is going to have some HTML in it, so you are using hatchet where a scalpel is needed.
I would like to have you post the headers from one of these messages becuase i would suspect that something is allowing these messages to bypass our scanning.
The other possibility is that our rulesets are out-dated and need refresh. Have you gone through this document?
