Workflow and ServiceDesk Community

Using the out of hte box email settings - SMTP - in service desk 7.1 sp1. I am looking to see if we can convert the HTML email format going out into text. 

cant find anything in documentation that would lead me to believe this is possible unless it is buried in the Workflow documentation

You need to configure the "Send e-mail" components for each of the e-mails that is being sent out. By default only the "send HTML part" is configured, but there is also a "Send plain text" part.

You'll notice two problems/challanges with this approach:

- When using the "Send plain text" it will not preserve any line-breaks... it's all in one long row, making this rather unusable. I have a ticket open with Symantec on that one, which is still under investigation.

- The other issue is that the send e-mail components are nicely distributed across many different workflows, making it quite a hassle to trace them all down and change them all.

You can work around the issue of missing line breaks with the "Send plain text" email body. To do this, when you are in the Advanced Text Creator window and have completed your changes to the email body, click the "Source" tab before you click "OK".

PeeGee is right though - if you are using ServiceDesk, you'll have to hunt through all the projects to track down all the email components to switch them over. If you do that, make sure you document where they are becasue you may have to repeat those steps during a Service Pack upgrade.

this is where it would nice to have a option on the portal for email of HTML or rich text. this is where customization bites you in the behind

do you mean jsut removed the beginning and ending HTML tags?
