Huge Backups

Created: 08 Jul 2013 | 4 comments

I have Backup Exec 2010 R3 running on a windows 2008 server

- The server has (2) 1tb drives in a Raid 1 config.

I have several Windows 7 computers

- They have (2) 500gb drives in a Raid 1 config

I am doing a FULL backup followed by scheduled DIFFERINTAL backups

Why are the Backups at about 30gb for both and still rising??

1) How are you backing up the machines?  Did you install 1 RAWS licence per remote machine and then push out the RAWS to these machines?

2) Do these remote machines have AV scans?

First, Differential backups are changes since the last full backup, so they will continue to grow in size during the week. Is size is constant in Full and Differential backups?

...what sort of change rate do experience on a daily basis? This would indicate the amount of data being backed up...

Does this occur on all the machines? If you break up the jobs you could narrow down where this is occuring. Also, are you using DLO?
