HUGE symantec updates last night????
Created: 20 Dec 2012 | 5 comments
Our low bandwidth networks are showing a huge amount of Symantec data. Looking at our SEPM server, the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\content folder contains two folders from around 2:15AM EST that are over 12GB! Is this right? Why such a large update?

Showing the same thing here, both were 12.9 GB with a time stamp of 1:39am and 1:43am CST. Unless a Symantec employee comments on it here, I would suggest a call to support.
If you look in the files, they are for different days though, roughly 650 MB in size each. I don't think this was from an update last night though. I have 2 new files in there from last night each is about 650-660 MB

I can confirm the same.... there are 2 folders with about 10gb in size
content inside has different date though
Not sure if this is helpful but folder name as below:
{535CB6A4-441F-4e8a-A897-804CD859100E}
{07B590B3-9282-482f-BBAA-6D515D385869}
For SEP 12:
{535CB6A4-441F-4e8a-A897-804CD859100E}:
SEPC Virus Definitions Win32 v12.1 - MicroDefsB.CurDefs - SymAllLanguages
Antivirus and Antispyware 32 bit defs
{07B590B3-9282-482f-BBAA-6D515D385869}:
SEPC Virus Definitions Win64 (x64) v12.1 - MicroDefsB.CurDefs - SymAllLanguages
Antivirus and Antispyware 64 bit defs
The monthly HUB definitions for AV were recently released, judging by the size of the download on my LUA server. I don't know of fthe top of my head why that would be 10 GB more in those two folders.
