  • 1.  Hyper-V Guest 2012 Servers as GUP(s)

    Posted Oct 16, 2014 02:40 PM

    Hello,

Recently, we started noticing something strange with our Hyper-V Guest servers that are being assigned as gups.  Following are the symptoms:

    - They keep getting disconnected from SEPM

    - When they do connect to SEPM, when I have search window up and I find them by name, the name changes to another server in the environment.

    - Server keep switching groups.

So I tried to actually catch this and noticed that the Unique ID and Hardway Key on all of these are same.  Looking like our build team may have missed a step in imaging these servers.  So before I reach out to them, first I wanted to confirm what the right process should be? (cloning tool?) and another question is how do we resolve the ones that are already bad?

First I would like to identify the ones that are bad, since only one of them seems to be connecting to SEPM at any given time, where would I be able to pull a report of all same Unique ID and Hardware Key?  Search onl seems to find one at a time.

    Thank you,

    @ Brain,

I don't think this will work in his environment.

    As per your article

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO54706

It has a note that it fails to work in 12.1.5. Any alternatives.

The tool fails to run in 12.1.5. Use the manual steps instead.
