Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 & Backup Exec 2012 SP2

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi There,

I am having issues getting backup exec to backup my hyper-v 2012 R2 Server (core version not full install of windows)

On previous versions it works perfectly fine, but on this new version of the windows OS it just fails as soon as it starts.

I used the exact same settings as the other hyper-v servers, the only difference is its now R2.

Attached is an error log that i get.

It is a simple backup of all the Guest machines.  I am not backing up the system state or anything like that.
The credentials work fine and go through successfully.
I am backing up to the local disk of the backup server (the same as all the other jobs)

I have noticed that the Backup Exec Agent service on the host stops running after the job has failed.
I have reinstalled and restarted the host server several times.

I check VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS and they all are present and stable.

Can any help me with this?

Thanks,

-Tim

Windows 2012 R2 is not officially supported ... yet, we do plan to support it

Ah i thought it was... damnit.

Weirdly though I am happily backing up a Windows Server 2012 R2 Server (complete backup) with no issues.

ah well.

Thanks,

-Tim

...while it might work now, it would not be a supported configuration. You might want to read below:
