    Hi All,

I am trying to install Symantec Management Platform (Notification server) on a vertual machine. When I launch symantec installation manager it lists down the products available for download and install. I select required products and click next. I provide all required information prior to the product download. when the download completes it shows two options (1) Begin Build (2) cancel. when I click "Begin Build", it creates a zip file on the desktop. when I double click the zip file, the symantec installation manager starts again and in the end it again asks me for "Begin Build" instead of prompting to install the SMP. can any one help me with this?

    Hello Syed,

first not down SIM is created to run not to install.

As u said u build the zip that is a package with which u are not required to download the product during the installation.

Now do the simple thing , select the products when u got the list of products , go to next.

You will be asked for give the details of license or the oraganisation, fill it and accept the agreement.

After this you will asked for the prerequisites which is automatically done by SIM, it will allow to go next if your system will fulfill the prerequisites otherwise u will get error and u have to end the session and try again after fulfiiling the prerequisites.

Are you running SIM on supported operating system? Do you get a warning about this not being the case?

I am trying to run SIM on windows server 2003 32 bit OS having all hardware/software pre requisites fulfilled. I have also try the same on windows server 2008 R2 but result is same. II have installes SMP several times on windows server 2003 but I never faced such issue. What is happenong is when I launch the Symantec Installation Manager and select the required solutions to download/install after the installation manager downloads solution it shows three options: (1) Back (2) Begin Build (3) Cancel. When I click begin build it creates installation package in a zip format. I execute the zip and again the same process starts and in the end I get another zipped folder containing same installation files. Please see the attached snapshot for reference. I have installed SMP several times but did not see the begin build option ever during simple installation. Can you please help me out with this issue? I look forward to your prompt response.

    Hi syed,

You are trying to install SIM 7.1 on 32-Bit os, 7.1 SP1 is supported on 64 Bit OS only.

Try to install on 2008 R2 fresh installed OS, the screenshot clearly explains that the SIM installation is not fulfilling the OS requirement.

    Alternatively, use SIM 7.0
