  • 1.  I cannot activate PGP NetShare.

    Hello,

    I'm trying to reinstall software on my computer with Windows 7 (32-bit) and I cannot activate PGP NetShare, I already spent 3 days for this issue. Customer support cannot (or dont want) help me.

    I have perpetual license for PGP NetShare v10.0.3, support subscription is not active (expired in 2011).

     

    Here are my steps:

    1. Download v10.0.3 of the product from fileconnect.symantec.com

    2. Install the product

    3. Run the License Assistant

    4. Enter my reg.data

    5. Enter the license

    6. Error occrurs when I tried activate the license - host not found

    7. Entered the Manual Authorization from this page (advice from customer support):

    8. Error occurs when I tried activate the license - There was a problem verifying the license authorization.

     

    What did I do wrong? What should I do to activate my license?

    I have the perpetual license and this means I can use the license as long as I want. Maybe I am wrong?

    Any help will be very appreciated.

    According to the KBA, you should be using the name and organization name you originally registered with if your purhased your license from PGP Corporation.  But if you purchased your license instead from Symantec, you must use the following two words for the respective entries:

    Authorized User

    Authorized Company
     
    If this second option applies, please make sure you actually use these two specific words instead of someone's name and some organization's name.
     
    What are the actual entries you are using.
     
    BTW, it is correct that if your support agreement has expired, that Tech Support cannot assist you.  However, it this is still not working, you may want to contact Customer Care who handles all licensing issues.

    Hello Tom,

     

    Thank you for the hint, I was able to activate the product.

    We have 3 licenses issued by PGP and 5+ licenses issued by Symantec. I used my name and company name and it was a mistake. Using of "Authorized User" and "Authorized Company" solved the problem.

    By the way, I was able to register the product only with Manual Authorization, activation with the licensing server was failed.
