    Hi,

first, I would suggest you to use VMWare ESXi Server (free) for your testing, as VMWare Workstation is not supported by SBG.

Also, you can check the BrightmailLog.log file after you try to start the Controlcenter service, in order to find the reason why it's not starting.

Tip: open a second command line prompt on the appliance (as "admin" user), then type "watch BrightmailLog.log" to see realtime logging of controlcenter.

    KInd Regards

This looks very strange to me and I've never really seen anything like it.  I wouldn't think it's related to ESX at all, are you sure you haven't set the appliance up with the Scanner only role?

Alternatively, go to the directory /var/log/brightmail for errors then post it here..

SBG 8 can run sucessfully on VMWare workstation, there is no issue of vmware.

this happen when you don't select controlcenter while bootstrap.

Can re-configure with using "clear osconfig", by doing this it take to bootstrap configuration.

don't worry it will just clear your domain name and IP and role play, your license and policies will be remain.

    Hi Nik93,

We also had same problem, While installing the Brightmail on Vmware server the control centre was not starting.

Now we have found the solution and it is working fine.

Download VMware ESXi Ver 3.5 with update 4 (free) from
    https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=free-esxi-go&lp=1

Note : VMware ESXi Ver 4 is for 64 bit.

Please find the Bright mail systems requirements on
    ftp://ftp.entsupport.symantec.com/pub/support/documentation/sbg_installation_guide.pdf

    Page 64

It is recemmonded VMware ESXi Server Version 3.5 with update 4

Disk Space 160 GB and Ram 4 GB.

After downloading, install the VMware server and Brightmail.

Bright mail will get installed and the control centre will start working.

    Trust it works...
