Install an additional site

Install an additional site (additional SEP 11 manager) in your network and configure as replication partner the first manager. After you configure this, durring the installation of your second manager, a replication will occur. As soon as replication finish, apply to your clients new Management Server List (a new MSL will be created automatically with your second installation and you should use it), so they will know that a new server exists and they should use it as primary management server. After you done this, you can uninstall your first instance of SEP manager.

Replication! The best way!

Hi Marvin,

There are two answers::::

#1 Replication::

When installing manager on a new machine we will have an option to add new manager!! the process is called replication!!

Try following these steps to add a replication partner!!

http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security....

#2 Database BackUp: (THE COMPLICATED WAY)

Take a backup of the database and then install SEPM on the new machine exporting the database which you backed up. Later go to each group on the new manager and export the communication setting (Sylink.xml)

Try Documents below!

Restoring communication to clients with a new Sylink.xml file

How to move Symantec Endpoint Protection clients to a different group by using the SylinkDrop, or SylinkReplacer, utility and a sylink.xml

Cheers,
Shan.

Hi Marvin, All of the above

Hi Marvin,

All of the above is true if you are using embedded database for SEPM. Chances are very less that you would be using SQL database for 37 clients but if you are, then the option is very simple.

You just need to install the SEPM on the new machine with the option "Install an additional SEPM to the existing site" and point it to your existing SQL database. The following link explains about how to go about going this.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/305181.htm

With this all the client information and policies would be intact as you are using the same database for your new SEPM. After this the first SEPM can be uninstalled.

Thanks.
