  • 1.  I installed SEP but had issues

I installed SEP SBE last night and it went well for the most part. I did have the following issues.

    1. It deployed to the 64 bit machines but not my 32 bit Windows 7 laptop. It said it was successful but looking in the console it came up as not communicating and it is not on the machine. At first I thought it was the wireless and hard wired it same problem. I even tried creating a package but it never did install.

    2. Where do I get a license file for this, it is only good for 30 days. I checked the downloads and the license file in there is corrupt.

    3. Mail is broken-meaning it fails when trying to test sending email, I am using port 25 which is open. I installed this on a 64 bit SBS 2008 server.

    Thanks

    1. Check this KB -

Symantec Endpoint Protection client installation fails due to lack of permissions on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH96238&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1304623301758

    2. Log into the licensing Portal to get your product license.

    https://licensing.symantec.com/acctmgmt/index.jsp?sessiontimeout=yes&localeStr=en_US

If that does not work for you, you can contact the licensing department at 1-800-721-3934 and select option

    3. Double-check your Server name, user name, and password

    John,

I believe you had intially posted this in the SEP 12.1 beta forums.  I just wanted to verify what version of SEP SBE you are trying to install.

If you are installing SEP SBE 12.1 (beta build) there is a default 30 day license then a 30 day grace period.  Any future beta builds should reset those counters.

If you are using the shipping build of SEP SBE please follow Cycletech's infromation above.

    Thank you.

    Eric S.
