This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,
I've been trying to look for an article that would explain the process of archived task items... Was it so that those don't leave a shortcut behind and how are the attachments supposed to open etc after the item have been archived...?

If you have mailbox policy which force to NOT to leave shortcut and original item back behind mailbox then attachment of archived email can only be open via Archive expoler / Search.

Hello Sani,

Yes, you are correct. The Task items are non-shortcut items. EV will take a copy of the task item and store it in the associated archive. For attachments, you can configure the mailbox policy >> Advanced >> Archiving General >> Strip attachments to non-shortcut items.

Controls whether attachments are removed from calendar items, meeting items (including requests, responses and cancellations), task and task request items, and contacts after archiving. These items are not changed into Enterprise Vault shortcuts when they are archived. If Enterprise Vault removes an attachment, it replaces it with a link to the attachment.

When user opens the archived task item, they will get link to attachment. Clicking on link will open the attachment, the same way it does for normal email message when you create links for attachments in shortcut body.

I hope this helps.
