I followed this document by

I followed this document by Symantec and it took care of the issue on a particular machine for me.  I even created a little script based on these steps.

Large amounts of temp files are being created in the xfer_tmp or 7.5/xfer folder and are being detected as threats.

Blen, even that didn't work

Tried that in the past :-(

I opened a case, I just REALLY wish something as simple as this was avialble to be handled without intervention from support.

From what I understand the

From what I understand the SymDelTmps utility is just an automated version of what blenahan posted above. Since you said that you have already tried this and it didn't work, then I would have to assume the you might also have trouble with the SymDelTmps utility. I am curious as to the root cause, so could you provide more details, maybe an error message you are seeing?

Install RU6(11.0.6000.550)

Install RU6(11.0.6000.550) for starters to prevent the problem from happenning again as this is a bug. The DelTemps.exe works but the problem is that is has to be run locally or using a remote execute tool like PSExec, and it takes hours if there are literally thousands of temp files. I created a VB script that I run from a web page that does it a little better, in my opinion, both methods work for me but they can run for several hours, like sometimes over 24 hrs. That is why I prefer the script as it works behind the scenes and doesnt bother the user.
