What version of SEP are you running? You may need to upgrade:

Large numbers of .tmp files are being created in the xfer_tmp or 7.5\xfer folder and are being detected as threats.

Check this:

Files are left in the i2_ldvp.tmp folder after scanning

This can be deleted after the scan finishes.

Hello,

What version of SEP 12.1 are you running?

Was this SEP 12.1 from Migrated from the earlier version of SEP 11.x?

Is this issue occurying on 1 machine or all machines?

Incase, if this is occuring on 1 client machine, then

1) Uninstall SEP client along with Liveupdate.

2) Delete all Symantec directories and clear Temp directory

3) Restart the machine

4) Reinstall SEP client on the machine.

Hope that helps!!

Does the folder/file delete after the scan finishes?

The file needs to be deleted manually after stopping the SEP services.. sometimes even that does not work\

This is on a File server machine.

The issue is fixed in SEP 11.0 RU7 MP1.

Not sure about the 12.1 release fix.

Hi;

Can you please try the following.

Solution

Workarounds:

  1. Temporarily stop the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) services and then attempt to delete the files.
  2. Reboot into Safe Mode and attempt to delete files.

Additional notes:
The folder "i2_ldvp.tmp" is used as a temporary location for the files which are getting extracted during a scan.
The files located in that folder should be automatically deleted as soon as scan completes.

Reasons for files not being automatically deleted after the scan include the following:

  1. The scan didn’t complete successfully.
  2. There was not enough hard disk space for SEP to extract the file.
  3. Rights and permissions for this (And other) folders have been modified from Microsoft default.
