I am currently evaluating Backup Exec 11d (7170) for Windows Server. When i try adding NDMP server (IBM n3700 running ONTAP 7.2.2.) i get the following error:

"Backup Exec does not support the NDMP server vendor type or revision level. Refer to the Backup Exec Administrator's Guide for information on supported devices"

Is this device going to be supported in later patches or release? If yes, what would be the timeline?

My purchase decision is based on the the resolution or some tentative roadmap to resolve this issue from Symantec.

Please respond at the earliest.

Thanks.

Hello Samad -

We will be supporting the IBM N-Series with both Backup Exec 11d and the upcoming Backup Exec 12 product.

I expect a patch to be availble relatively soon to support the N3700 with Backup Exec 11d.  Backup Exec 12 will support the N Series at its release.

Thanks,
