    Dear All,

I have just installed Asset Management Suite on my CMS Server and migrated over the licenses from my old NS 6.0 server. However, the licenses for Windows 7 and 2008 do not have products in the new SMP 7.1 server that I can select in the Legacy License Migration Tool. We have several hundred Windows 7 clients, but Win7 is not showing up as managed or unmanaged software.

What do I do? How do I get the Silverlight Console to recognise these Software Products?

    Kindest regards,

    QuietLeni

    Dear All,

As annoying as it is, Symantec have said that the Software Licensing is not designed to count Windows Installs, but the sort of software that turns up in Add and Remove Programs!!!! The detection rules set up for Operating Systems are ineffective.

The workaround is to create new Software Components with Detection Rules that match with values in the registry that indicate the version of Windows that is installed.

I found a KB Article here that explains the process:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH147592&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1305660980673

I hope that this helps someone else as well.

    Regards,

    Thanks QuietLeni - Great Post

I agree this is a little daft that we are having to do extra work in an upgraded new product from what we had in a previous version... but hey ho ... we do have a workaround.
