IE browse to searcho2k.asp reliant on Outlook plugin?

This issue has been solved. See solution.
Apologies if this is a silly question..
Does the Outlook version/EV plugin version come into play at all, when just using Internet Explorer to access the search.asp page directly?
As in, Outlook 2010 is closed on the system, and Im just navigating to http://evserver/EnterpriseVault/searcho2k.asp
We have a user getting 'The item could not be downloaded. [OIOM] [CBVI]' popup error message from Internet Explorer, when he tries to click on archived items in the search results (either the blue link, or the envelope icon).
I didnt think it would matter, but the user has Outlook 2010 installed, and as we're on EV8.0.4 Outlook 2010 isnt supported..?

Well the easiest thing you can do is see if the user can open it via a machine with outlook 2007 or just install the EV9 SP3 Outlook Add In
Ah yes, the 9 client is backwards compatible alright, Ill give that a go and let you know, thanks
looks to have resolved the issue for this user - a week and no complaints :)
thanks again
