I tried to migrate a user from an XP Pro machine with IE-7 to an XP Pro machine with IE-8. None of the users favorites were migrated. I see them in the migration package but they did not come over. Any idea why this would happen?

Possibly because User

Possibly because User migration has no support for IE8. When you restore this package do you see IE8 as one of the products on the to be restored list?

This means that User

This means that User migration does not support migrating to IE8. Quite possibly this was planned for the upcoming release which was postponed but will be coming later. You can also request Symantec services to provide an application template for IE8 for you. Alternatively you can use User migration Application wizard tool to build IE8 migration template and migration path from IE6/IE7 to IE8. Creating templates could be interesting task but I would guess that most settings are very similar between IE7 and IE8 so you wouldnt have too much trouble building one but it is the first step that is always hard.

This tool allows users to build any application templates that are currently not supported by GSS 2.5.
