IE Patch and CA

Created: 17 Aug 2006 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 4 comments

Have any of you run into any issues with the MS06-042 patch yet?
I did not find anything yet on the Symantec site about it, but it causes CA to crash if you mark an item as reviewed and click apply. Microsoft has a patch coming out on Tuesday to correct this issue, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found another way to resolve it (besides rolling back the patch)

Andy, can you be a little more specific about what part is breaking? Some more details? Clicking those buttons should trigger interaction between IE and the IE Webcontrols, is that the problem?

Hey Lee -
The part that causes CA to crash, is when a designated reviewer highlites one or multiple messages from the previous nights search results, and then clicks "Reviewed".
This only happens to those reviewers who've had this particular patch installed on their machines. If not, the application works fine.
This issue has been acknowledged by Microsoft as a potential issue with web applications (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923762/en-us). An update will be available Tuesday, I was just wondering if anyone else had found another way to resolve it.
I hope that helps -
Andrew

Have you applied the hotfix listed in that article yet?

Sorry for the late reply - but it looks as if the patch from Microsoft KB917344 resolved this issue
