Whether we can use EMC Power path for Fencing configuration in Linux, instead of using veritas DMP?

OS version - OEL 5.8

VCS - 6.0

oracle - 11g

oracle apps - 12.1.3

PowerPath - 5.1 or later

If we refer to

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

page 25/26 reports the various array models that SHOULD support powerpath with fencing on certain arrays such as Clariion CX / CX3 /CX4 /DMX etc with OEL..

however there are certain conditions with some of these arrays which are very much mentioned in the same page which should be met ...

VCS 6.0 admin guide doesn't report anything for powerpath as well ..

Also, never came across with issues across this setup ....

Are you going to setup for first time or you have a setup which is having any issues ?

By any chance the devices from Symmetrix would be presented to host as foreign devices ? If yes, then fencing may have issues as mentioned in DMP admin guide for 6.0

Well in that case, if you are using any of the products mentioned above from HCL, then shouldn't be an issue ...  as HCL says clearly that some of the arrays are tested with fencing & powerpath ...
