  • 1.  If there are servers in each region that can provide live updates via a GUP...

    Posted Jun 25, 2013 02:34 PM

...why aren't there servers that can perform local installations without having to retrieve the setup files from the management server?

Sorry if this sounds like an amature question, but I would like to have a solution in place where the installation files are on a local server so that the package can easily be pushed out without having to use bandwidth and copy from the management server?

    Windows Server 20008/2003 (64/32)

    Windows 7 Clients (64)

I know we have the option of using the BIN folder to push an exported package locally but it would be nice if this was automated.

    Thank you in advance.

This has come up before but it is just not an option right now. Perhaps in the future...

    You could try this:

Push Deployment Wizard - Standalone deployment app for SEP install packages

Copy the install files to a local server than use the tool to deploy to clients. It's pretty slick...

Until they implement something like this, other options are needed.

HTTP or HTTPS based installation wouldn't be too bad. Kinda like file connect.

    Here is another option:

How to upgrade a client from a non-manager server using the "Download the client package from the following URL (http or https)" option.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your question.

You know it already that it's not possible at this point. But can be achieved using other methods.

How to upgrade a client from a non-manager server using the "Download the client package from the following URL (http or https)" option.

    OR

Can use Push deployement wizard at remote sites.
