  • 1.  IIS 64-bit Mode - Not An Option

Our main server is running Windows 2003, 64-bit.  We have a web app that requires IIS to run in 32-bit mode.  However, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager requires IIS to be in 64-bit mode on a 64-bit OS.  Now I know the thing will install and run perfectly fine on a 32-bit platform, so why is there not an option or workaround for getting the Manager to run in IIS 32-bit mode on 64-bit Windows?  We're having that service/Java problem, and the problem goes away if I turn 64-bit mode back on in IIS.  But, we can't do this.  Ante up, Symantec.

Thats moreover a windows limitation that IIS can run only in one mode So either you can run in 32 bit mode or 64 bit mode. When SEPM installs on 64 bit computer it detects and installs its major communication components in 64 bit mode.So for having a workaround it will have to go through a architecture change..That I dont think would be possible.
But still this can be given in the Idea Section of this forum and if the Mass goes for it..Symantec will definitely look into it.

Well, I may end up having to put that 32-bit web app on a separate box/vm anyway.  The vendor isn't forthcoming with any useful updates, and the plan is to move to SBS 2008.  At that point, running IIS in 64-bit will not be an option, so it's either now or later.  Thanks for the info, though.  I was wondering what happened during the install to make it stubborn.
