Oops.  Too fast.  After adding the IIS role as advised I get the following pop up during install:

" to continue the installation, make sure sure that the .. (IIS) ... (W3svc) is installed and running.  on computers that run iis7 or later the following iis role services must also be installed and lists the roles that everyone advised.

So, while I've setup the roles as documented, something is missing.  I noted that there was no authentication added in the default r2 iis role install so i added that.  But something else is missing.

    Help appreciated.

    Hi,

Could you please check everything when you try to install IIS, and then see?

Or else, try restarting the server, after you install IIS, and then try installing sepm
