Image backups not working
Created: 11 Feb 2012 | 6 comments
The image backups of some VMs are configured to be backed up on a NAS storage. However the backups seems to be failing. The media set is set to overwrittable and the backups just hang up saying pre processing and doesnt go further.
The following is the error message:-
Backup- BACKUPSERVER
Remote Agent not detected on SERVER
The SERVER is the server vcenter server hosting the VMs.
THanks!

Is the remote agent service up and running on the remote server.

Have you tried backing up VM directly from ESX
Try to back up VM directly from ESX servers using root credential and check if its works that way.
Make sure Vmware tools and Be remote agents are updated on all VM's
If its only few Vm's backup that are not working..are you able to create and delete snapshot for them
manually..and make sure there is no old snpashot's in snapshot manager for Vm's
