  • 1.  Image installation problem on IBM Tablet PC X41

I am having a problem trying to get an image to load properly on a IBM Tablet PC X41. I was able to create an image without any problems, and the image creation computer rebooted fine and ran through sysprep correctly and loads and runs Windows.

I then attempted to load the image onto a second tablet PC, and although this laptop attached to the server correctly and the image seemed to install without any problems, when I reboot the laptop, nothing loads, the screen is black with just a cursor blinking in the upper left.

    Nothing, zip, nada, just black.

I am using Ghost 8.3, on Windows XP SP2.

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Liza

You might want to try and set the partition as active. I think I saw that before and using gdisk helped but I am not certain its the same problem you have.

    Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure I understand what this means. Is this a BIOS setting or something within the image file?

I tried using gdisk, and the partition was already active. I tried deleting it and reapplying the image and have the same problem, nothing boots.

One thing I noticed in gdisk was that the partition didn't seem to have a drive letter attached. It seemed to be the correct size and exactly the same as the laptop I created the image on, but it did not list it as being named C:.

    Any suggestions are very appreciated!

    Thanks,

I finally used gdisk to delete the MBR and now the image is working.
