    Hi

I can't creating Image of Windows7 from Ghost Console. Error message with something about "Partition"
As I understand is win7 installed with two partitions and that could be the problem. My ver. of Ghost Console
is 11.5.1.2266 and I read here that it is a patch to 2269. Where to get it and what is the solution of the problem?
    Windows XP Image works ok.

First of all, if you need help with an error message, please provide the full text of the error message.

If the error has to do with a virtual partition then the likely causes are missing or incorrect drivers. You need a valid VISTA 32 bit driver (WinPE uses vista kernel) for the NIC and also the appropriate SATA driver for the hard disk if the SATA chipset is not natively supported by WinPE.

The link to contact tech support about the available patches is in one of the sticky postings at the top of this forum. You will need details of your support agreement in order to get patches, and these are only made available if the symptoms of your problem match one of the problems that the patches were designed to solve.

Windows 7 doies indeed have two partitions, but making a DISK image rather than a PARTITION image should ensure that you capture both partitions correctly.  If you cannot get to the point where the system has booted WinPE and is ready to image, then it's not an issue with Windows 7 but most likely a driver problem. Again, some of the most common topics are discussed in the sticky postings at the top of this forum.

    Hi Loben,

As EdT has mentioned update the exact error message, in addition to the following information.

** Are you trying to create a partition image or a disc image?

** If a disc image try adding Vista 32drivers for the network card on the client machine

** The patch file 2269 might not be needed if the error is related to the Virtual Partition

Provide the above requested details for the right assistance on the issue.

    Hi

    Thank's for answer.
The error message is "boot to virtual partition" always fails with the error message: "failed to update unattend.xml"
I will be back in office tomorrow and i will check the drivers.

The issue usually occurs when we use WINPE as PreOS

    There are multiple possible solutions:

    • Make sure that you have not added any extra files (copy) to default Winpe folder on the Console.
    • Check the size of the folder c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\symantec\ghost\template\common\winpe. It should be around 120-150MB.
    • Try deleting files on the client: c:\program files\symantec\ghost\incoming\winpe folder.
    • Ensure you have enough free space on the client machine on C: drive to hold the WinPE files. Again, they are roughly 120-150MB.
    • Ensure you have the latest build of Ghost. Run LiveUpdate until it reports you have the latest version.
    • Try using PCDOS as your PreOS instead of WinPE

Try these and update the status

    Hi

After updating network drivers doe's it works, the client is a HP DC7700 and the drivers where found on Intel's website. I also have Hp Dc7100 Clients with Broadcomnet Extreme Gigabit NIC and after updating the driver it works fine.
