Virtual Secure Web Gateway

We have noticed that some sites that are not blocked by our Symatec Web Gateways do not load images.  If you visit the sites without going through the proxy, the images load normally.

Has anyone seen this before and is there a fix other than whitelisting the site?

Can you describe your policy configuration just to make sure its not the following issue.

When using black- and whitelists you allow a specific site to be displayed, but in todays webpages stylesheets, graphics etc comes accross different sites, what in the situation of a deny all and only allow certain pages will bring up a situation as you described.

So to solve the situation you would need to whitelist all site elements as well that is not covered yet by your whitelist.

The challenge is not unique to SWG its a more generic problem to all white- and blacklist functions of all web gateway vendors.

You can use a custom report to see if/what items the SWG is activly blocking and then allow/whitelist those locations/domains.

We have not whitelisted/blacklisted this site at all in SWG. For the time-being, we are using the PAC file on the browser to make all requests to this site "go direct". Also, SWG is not blocking any traffic to this site, Custom Report shows "Monitored" Action for all requests.

There are several sites which I am seeing issues with.

1. http://www.cardinalhealth.com (the main issue)

- Getting red X's for all site images. Page source displays strange src for images in the <a> tag.

2. http://www.staples.com

- Site renders incorrectly. You have to scroll way down to see the main body of the site.

3. https://docs.google.com - Firefox only, looks correct in IE9

- Site barely renders at all. Completely Unusable.

We're going to put a support ticket in, but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, we are all ears.

Hi;

I faced same issue on my customer. When I look the logs The domain is the block address is different. Can you please check the logs if the address you browes and the domain name is same or not.

If it not same when you add the domain to the white list your problem get solve.
