  • 1.  Images From Vendor Not SysPrepped (Is This A Problem for Agent?)

Hello, We have about 200 machines that were imaged and setup by an outside vendor. We discovered that these machines were not SysPrepped. People are currently using these machines and it would be a disaster for us to have to reimage them. We are planning push the Altiris agent to all 200 machines. Could this present a problem with duplicate GUIDs and give us a problem managing the machines? We are running SMP 7.1 SP2 Thanks for any guidance.

Without an Agent, they have no GUIDs, so there is no problem managing those computers.

We are planning to push the agent to each of these machines.  We are concerned that they will all generate the same GUID and become unmanagable.

    Will this occur?

They don't receive a GUID until they get the agent. The GUID is randomly generated based upon several factors, and I believe one of those factors is the computer name.
