This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi there,

Does anyone know how I might go about imaging a 64 bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise? We currently have GSS 11.5 running on a 32bit XP machine. The Win 7 machine did not like the client for a start, and do I need a new sysprep version?

Many thanks,

Ben

You will need 64bit client

You will need 64bit client but even then GSS 2.5 64bit client will probably tell you that version is unsupported and will refuse to install. You can however clone it using other methods - standalone media boot to preOS - PXE, CD, USB etc either locally or via Ghostcast server.

Thanks for this. I did

Thanks for this. I did consider using our PXE boot image to clone the machine. If I do it that way, will I need to use Sysprep first?

You dont have to use sysprep

You dont have to use sysprep if all you want is to retarget GHO to a different hardware. You can use Deploy Anywhere that comes with GSS 2.5. This allows to retarget HAL, CPU, NIC and storage drivers to the point of booting and then Windows plug-n-play will detect other devices.

Does that also do the UUID

Does that also do the UUID & SSID for the machine as well?

It's OK, I have found Sysprep

It's OK, I have found Sysprep inside system32\Sysprep, had no idea it was there. Oops.
