  • 1.  import external data source records into organizational group?

    What I want to do is import the a list of computer systems from external database and run a job/task against them. I have already setup the data source connector.  We are in Altiris 7.1 SP2

    I haven't done this before.  The typical method is to write a query to get computer name (and any other desired information), then pop it into Excel, then import as a .csv.

    Will importing from a .csv work for your purposes?

    I tried the .csv import method. that works, but I would like for the process to be as dynamic as possible because the list of system records in the external database changes daily. I want to import the new records into an organizational group and have a job to run against that group on a schedule.

    When I created the data source and query in - Settings>All Settings>Notification Server>Connector -  and did a test run to view the records, they are all there.

    Then I tried to create an import filter rule, with the intention of importing the records into a filter in -Filters>Imported Filters- and build an organizational group off of the filter. Each record was imported as a separate filter. I need all the records to be in a single filter..
