Import printers from printservers

Created: 16 Sep 2013 | 2 comments

In our organization we have 300+ printers. I'd like to add them to servicedesk's assets. Is there any way to import those printers from our printservers? They are not stored in AD so that's not an option.

ServiceDesk assets originate from the SMP... if these printers are added as assets to the SMP, then SD should be aware of them.

There may be some function in the SMP to discover printers.... but I'm not up on that side of the product.

Like reecardo said, assets in ServiceDesk come from SMP, mostly at runtime. The question is on the SMP (well, technically more like Inventory or CMDB) side of things.

Depending on specific setup you have, you are probably looking at Network Discovery or manual import using Data Connector or CMDB Rules.
